Nels Nielsen

Nels D. Nielsen, 80, a resident of Davenport, IA passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

He was born in Davenport, IA on April 27, 1939, the son of Walter and Francis Nielsen(Bertram). Nels graduated with an apprenticeship at Rauch Construction Company, July 1962. He retired from Schroeder/Cregg Arp Construction after 50 years of dedication.

Nels was an animal lover, who also loved spending time with family and friends.  He  also loved spending time camping, fishing, boating, skiing, hunting, creative woodworking and making things with leather.  Nels was always first to volunteer his time and skills for family and friends.

Those left in honor of his memory include his wife Leona Nielsen (Teel), a son Walter Nielsen(Wendy), two daughters Sue Perry(Tom), Milinda Carstens (Milt).  He also has two brothers, Joe Bertram, and Phil Bertram, and a sister Karla Bertram. His grandchildren are: Kevin Dunaway (Melissa), Pamela Paulin(Richard), Carl Schiffke, John Schiffke (Bree) Nicole and Nicholas Nielsen, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date when it is safe for all to attend.
