Jean Lange

April 19, 1925 — June 8, 2020

Jean Lange passed away peacefully with family at her side, on June 8, 2020 at Clarissa Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, IA after an extended illness. She was 95 years old.

Jean was born in Peoria, IL at St. Francis Hospital to Fred and Dorothy Lang on April 19, 1925. She attended St. Mary’s school in Peoria until the family moved to Sterling, IL where she attended Community Catholic H.S. She had one brother, Francis Lange (decd), and one sister, Margaret (Lange) Hasenyager.

She was living in Silvis, IL at the time of her death. She had 3 children, Linda L Van Wassenhove/Armstrong, Larry Van Wassenhove (decd) and Debra Van Wassenhove. She worked various part-time jobs during her life but first and foremost she was a Wife/Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother/Great-Great Grandmother and homemaker. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, son and significant other, Ivan Wilburn. She and Ivan spent many good times on the Rock River in Hillsdale, IL and many years in Sun City AZ until his death which brought her back to the Quad Cities.

She is survived by her younger sister, Margaret Hasenyager (94) of Sterling, IL; daughters, Linda L Van Wassenhove/Armstrong of East Moline, IL, Debra Van Wassenhove of Silvis, IL; grandchildren Kimberly (Grams) Belock (Larry), Todd Swift (Shawna), Lee Swift (fiancé Trish Parker), Charlene Sperske Janas, and Paul Van Wassenhove; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Cremations rites have been accorded, and an open celebration of life will be at a later date, to be announced, at the American Legion- East Moline, IL.
