Toby J. Dykes, 56, passed away at home December 23,2025 after a battle with colon and liver cancer.

A Celebration of life will be 1-4pm Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the American Legion (702 35th Street, Davenport).

Toby was born October 22, 1969 in Davenport, Iowa the youngest of three sons to Larry Dale Dykes and Carletta Ann (Sunken) Dykes. He attended Davenport schools. Later he lived in Atlanta, Georgia where he worked construction. After moving back to Davenport, he worked as a climber for three different tree services and later for a window and siding company. Toby had a mechanical ability to fix or put most anything together. He did odd jobs, if anyone needed help, he was there. He loved to fish and was a good cook.

Those left to honor Toby’s memory are his mother Carletta; brothers Jimmy Dykes of Davenport, IA and Timmy Dykes of Warren MI; aunt Ruth Dykes of Bettendorf, IA, Gwen Dykes of LeClaire, IA, and Sandy Sunken of Hampton, IL; nieces Heather, Marisa, and Heidi; nephew Matt and many cousins and friends.

Toby was preceded in death by his father Larry D. Dykes, grandparents Ray (Joy) Dykes, Sunkie “Joe” (Anna) Sunken, uncles Ricky and Terry Dykes and Ray and Marvin Sunken, best friends Bill King, Damon Fowler and Marty Damp.

The family would like to give special thanks to Genesis Hospice for their excellent compassionate in-home care, Genesis Cancer Center Dr. Anoop Aggarwal and staff, and Dr. Gaurav Ahuja and staff.
