Sandra M. Whittington

Sandra Whittington, 85, of Viola, IL passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Per her wishes there will be no visitation or funeral, and cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at a later date at Viola Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the family.

Sandy was born July 25, 1939 in Mercer County, IL a daughter of Robert and Marjorie Harrison Smith. She was a 1957 graduate of Winola High School. On March 4, 1961 she married Roger Whittington in Viola. He passed away on March 27, 2014. Sandy was an avid bowler, and she enjoyed watching her Chicago Cubs and Bulls.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Michele Whittington of Viola, Terrie (Larry) Pickett of Las Vegas, NV, and Denise Whittington of Viola; sons Rodney (Pat) Whittington, Urbana, OH and Tom (Char) Whittington of Viola; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Richard Smith and a sister Beverly Vipond.
