Roy E. Sims

Roy E. Sims, 88, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Per his wishes Roy will be cremated, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Roy was born September 15, 1937 in Moline. IL the son of Roy and Marie (Cabor) Sims. He later met and married Barbara Mee in 1979, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

Roy retired from John Deere. He was proud to be a part of the Masonic community for over 50 years. He was a member of the Coal Valley Chapter, where he served as past master. He enjoyed camping and square dancing, and especially cherished time spent with family and friends.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, children Don (Gail) Doyle, Debbie (Rob) Peterson, Penny (Bob) Doyle, David (Teresa) Sims, and Sherry (Dave) Mallette; 60 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, sons Jim and Lee; 3 grandchildren; siblings Bill and Betty, brother-in-law Don, and his first wife Darlene.
