Lura J. Harkey

Lura Jean Harkey, 95, of Aledo passed away of congestive heart failure Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Per her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no services.

Lura was born October 8, 1928 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Warren and Margaret (Mueller) Harder. She married Gene Harkey June 26, 1948 in Rock Island. Lura was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

Survivors include her husband Gene; children Peggy Carpenter of Aledo, Warren (Cindy) Harkey of Bettendorf, Cathy (Frank) Armetta of Mahomet, IL, and Robert (Reba) Harkey of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and sisters Jane Williams of Aledo and Margaret Scholmeyer of Dubuque, IA.

Lura was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis, 2 grandsons, 4 sisters, and 1 brother.
