Jo Ann [Plunkett] Shook, 91, of Davenport passed away Oct. 4th, 2025.
Cremation arrangements have been made per her wishes. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 25th, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the West Davenport Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses 3801 Hillandale Rd, where she was a member of the congregation.
Jo Ann was born September 11, 1934 in Quincy Illinois, to Freemont and Lucille [Walbring] Plunkett. She was the oldest of five children; the family moved to Orion, ILL.; then to Ophiem, ILL. in 1950, so she grew up in these towns and graduated from Alwood High School in 1953. She married Rowland Shook July 30th, 1954 in Cedar Falls, Ia. and they raised three sons together. Rowland passed away December 6,1992. She worked as a bookkeeper several places including her husbands appliance repair business. Jo Ann and her husband lived for several years in Florida, but lived most of her life in Davenport. She enjoyed taking walks with friends, bird watching and knitting, but was happiest sharing Bible truths and promises with others. She was baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses October 30th 1971. She was a dear and faithful sister who was loved by all.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons and their spouses: Randy [Carol] Shook, David [Lori] Shook, 8 grandchildren and their spouses; Kerri Shook; Cory, Derek [Jessica], Kurtis [Laura], and Ethan Shook, Natalie [Chris] Adlfinger; Amber [Justin] Stock and Aimee Shook. 12 Great grandchildren, a brother Jay [Becky] Plunkett, a sister Sandi Cole, and several nieces and nephews. Jo Ann was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Dennis Shook, Two grandsons, Jason and Jared Shook and two brothers Ted and Terry Plunkett. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
