Hillsdale

James A. Larvenz, 66 of Hillsdale, IL entered the gates of heaven on June 16, 2024. James was a devoted husband, father, child, friend, brother, fireman and correctional officer. James lived richly in life of both service and kindness. James was known for his quick sense of humor, his ability to give guidance in any situation, his calming voice or reassuring touch, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do! James never knew a stranger, he always stopped to help anyone in need, whether that be a stranded pedestrian or a friend/family member in need of help.

James attended and graduated from Moline high school. In his younger years, he had a sincere passion for martial arts, he was a bodyguard and good student of the art, he also ran his own DJ show and enjoyed entertaining crowds, he also attended college for radio broadcasting. James enjoyed fixing cars, riding motorcycles, horses, making clothing and jewelry and wooden items for his family. James took great pride in serving the town of Hillsdale, IL through being a volunteer fireman for 25 years and winning lifesaving awards. James was also a passionate correctional officer and eventually a food services supervisor at the East Moline Correctional center, retiring March 31, 2013.

James married Diane Anderson on September 26, 1992, where they spent the last 34 years in Hillsdale, raising their family of three children, his children loved him more than anything and could often be found by his side. James's legacy will live on by all the lives he touched but most importantly through his wife, Diane and children and beloved grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memories and love are his wife, Diane Larvenz of Hillsdale, Daughter’s Lisa (David) Huntley of Moline, IL, Cindy (John) Goeden of East Moline and son, Matthew Randall of Hillsdale, IL. James leaves behind his beloved siblings, Diane (Paul) Smith of Silvis, IL, Brother’s Adam Larvenz of Moline, IL and Dave (Gwynn) Lind of Tennessee. Jame’s pride and joy was his grandchildren, where he created so many wonderful memories with and traditions they will cherish forever, Austin, Kayden & Larry. James had a special nephew and birthday buddy, Jacob Smith, of Hillsdale, IL and Misty Smith of Geneseo, IL. James would also include his numerous friends and family, not mentioned above.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis & James Larvenz, brother’s Mark and Carl Larvenz and an infant sister, Carol Ann. James had three animals that were waiting at heaven’s gate for him, Spike, Chico and Lobo. Lastly, James was reunited with his best friend, Tim Witter.
