Hartwell "Cory" M. Steele

Hartwell McNeely Steele IV "Cory", 36, passed away of a sudden illness on November 1, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital.  

Family will greet friends and family at 1:00 followed by a service at 1:30 at The Rock Event Center, 302 1st St, Coal Valley, IL on Saturday November 11th.  Food will be provided.

Cory was born September 24, 1987 in Geneseo, IL.  He attended Rock Island High school and earned his certificate for Welding.  He went on to work at Refractory Insulation for 15 years and most recently Liberty Pattern Co.  On October 10, 2020 he married the love of his life Emily McDaniel.

Cory enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, and playing video games (Magic and Skyrim) with Shawn.  He enjoyed the outdoors, collecting and using fire arms, grilling and cooking.  He loved heavy metal music like Tool and Disturbed and collecting RC and model cars.    

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Emily Steele and 5 children, Hartwell V "Shawn", Aoife, Aubrie, Maddox, and Maclan all of New Liberty.  Father, Hartwell McNeely Steele III "Trae" (Melanie) of Marion, IA. Siblings, Nic Steele of Silvis, IL, Logan Reynolds of Silvis, IL, Justin Reynolds of East Moline, IL, Megan Reynolds of Moline, IL, Chandler Steele of Davenport, IA, Maxwell Steele of Moline, IL, Brady Steele of Marion, IA, and Tayton Steele of Marion, IA. Grandparents, Hartwell McNeely Steele II "Mickey" (Carole) of Bella Vista, AR; Linda Sisson of Geneseo, IL; Robyn (Gary) August of Walcott, IA and Cindy Verhaeghe of Moline, IL; In-laws, Richard, Stephanie, Alesia Nunez, Callahan McDaniel, and Bryce McDaniel. Plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew. 

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Crystal Reynolds, and grandparents Richard & Sharon Brown.
