Gerald Stinocher

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Stinocher, 87, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026.

Jerry was born on April 28, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa, to Raymond and Florence (Adams) Stinocher. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long career as a welder at J.I. Case, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Above all else, Jerry was a kind, generous, and personable man who never met a stranger. He had a gift for making others feel welcome and was truly a friend to everyone he encountered. His warmth, sense of humor, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Jerry found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes fan. One of his favorite traditions was cheering on the Hawkeyes while treating himself to a soft-serve ice cream cone at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a memory that will bring smiles to those who knew him best. He was also a faithful member of Memorial Christian Church, where he dedicated countless hours volunteering and serving his church family.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerry (Christine) Stinocher and Jeffrey (Denise) Stinocher; his stepchildren, James Scott and Laura York; his grandchildren, Jennifer Stinocher, Brandon Stinocher, Kelsey Stinocher, and Amber Stinocher; nine step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard “Dick” Stinocher, Mike Stinocher, Dennis Stinocher, and Kenneth Stinocher; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence (Adams) Stinocher; his beloved wife, Barb Stinocher; and his brothers, Clarence Stinocher and William “Bill” Stinocher.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday on the Rock Island Arsenal. Family and friends are asked to gather for the procession at 1:45 p.m. at Schroder Mortuary, 701 1st Avenue, Silvis, Illinois 61282.

Jerry’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, faith, and friendship. His family takes comfort in knowing that the countless lives he touched will continue to carry his memory forward. Though he will be deeply missed, his gentle spirit, unwavering love for his family, and genuine compassion for others will never be forgotten.
