Del Felger

December 14, 1936 — December 12, 2018

Del W. Felger, 81, of Moline, passed away Dec. 12, 2018, with his loving wife, Janice, of 62 years, at his side at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Del was born to Delbert A. and Elna Murphy Felger Dec. 14, 1936, in Norfolk, Neb. He is a 1955 graduate of Norfolk High School, where he met Janice Ehrichs. They were married in Norfolk on Oct. 3, 1956. Del was a star captain on the Norfolk basketball team (at a tall 6 feet, 3 inches) and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 to 1960. He and Jan moved to the Quad-City area after his Navy discharge. He worked as an electrician at the Rock Island Lines and later at International Harvester Case IH, for 25 years, retiring in September of 1993. His passion for basketball carried over to other sports and years of rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team first and foremost - Go Big Red! He was incredibly hardworking, a skilled handy man both at home and in helping friends and neighbors. Del enjoyed trips home to Norfolk, boating with friends, time outdoors and drives through the country with Jan. His love for cats spread through the family.

Del's parents preceded him, his lovely mother, Elna, just four years ago. Surviving him are Jan; his children, Donald (Theresa) Felger, of Hampton, Gordie Felger (Kristen Aller), of Hiawatha, Iowa; and Vickie Felger (Eric Brown), of Princeton.

The family extends a thank you to the staff at Clarissa C. Cook, and to all who lent a hand and heart to both Jan and Del.

At Del's request, cremation will be performed and there will be no services. Suggested memorials may be made to Disabled Vets or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
