Chad Ernest Lee Brakeman, 46, of Colona, Illinois, passed away on November 6, 2024, at Iowa City Hospital. Born in Emporia Kansas on June 10, 1978, Chad touched the lives of many through his warmth, humor, and kindness. He graduated from J.D. Darnell High School, Geneseo, with the class of 1996 and went on to make a positive impact in every community he was part of. Known for his time as a car salesman at Key Auto Mall, Chad was beloved by his coworkers and customers alike, brightening any room he entered with his joyful personality.
Chad is survived by his loving family, who will always hold him in their hearts: his daughters Autumn Brakeman, Hannah Franko, and Kennedy Brakeman; his parents, Jeanette "Tiny" Brakeman and Gary Brakeman; his siblings, Jeff Loughran (wife Rose Loughran), Teresa Gilligan, Kristina Brakeman, and Holly Cox (husband Larry Cox); and many nieces and nephews who knew him fondly as “Uncle Chad.”
Chad’s journey was filled with both challenges and triumphs, and his family and friends will forever cherish the moments they shared with him. His presence will be remembered with love by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Chad’s life will be held Saturday, December 7, at First Church of the Nazarene, located at 1010 N Clark Street in Davenport, Iowa. Service will be at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon.
