Barbara Marie (Vavrosky) Scott, 86, formerly of Coal Valley, IL, passed away peacefully
at 0224 on September 11, 2023 after years of struggle with obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD).
Barb was born in 1937 in Pisek, North Dakota where she attended school. She worked
for over 10 years at the Holiday Inn in Galesburg, IL, and then fulltime at the Quad City
Airport and parttime at the Milan Community Center.
Barb married John (Jack) Scott in 1956 in Homestead, FL then moved to New Windsor,
IL where she resided many years. They had two children, Kim Machelle (Scott) Jones
and John Craig Scott. Barb’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought
her much joy. She enjoyed going to the casino with her sister, Mary Rollason, playing
cards and bingo.
Barb is survived by her daughter and son, grandsons Scott (Darcy) Jones, Jason
(Christine) Jones, great grandchildren Kaiden, Makenzie and Lakin Jones, sister
Ramona Kelly, brothers Joe and Mike Vavrosky, and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Rollason, brothers
Paul, Wilbert (Bill) and Roland Vavrosky, and sister-in-law Marguerite Vavrosky and
brother-in-law Tom Rollason.
Services will be held at a later date. Barb requested any donations be made to St Jude
or to further her grandchildren’s education. Memorials may be directed to Kim Jones for
establishing accounts or for submittal to St Jude’s.

will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”
Proverbs 31:31 “Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her at the
gates. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at
the city gate. Reward her for all she has done.”
