Barbara R. Damm

Barbara R. Damm passed away peacefully at her home on October 2, 2023, surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20, at 6:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Davenport, IA.

Barbara was born in Davenport, IA on January 17, 1937, to Wilbert and Noalma (Nelson) Spengler. She grew up in the country where she surrounded herself with the animals that she dearly loved. She also had many friends from Bennett School and treasured those friendships throughout the years. She retired from Wayne Montgomery Cash and Carry Carpet after 25 years as a loyal employee.

Barb enjoyed life to the full. Barbara would often say that one of the best things she ever did was study the Bible and get to know her God, Jehovah. She enjoyed many special friendships in the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses that she attended, and she was especially appreciated for her generosity and hospitality. She loved to entertain and plan parties, and then capture those special times with her photos. And, of course, she continued to love animals, especially her beloved "Westies."

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Richard and Wilbert; and her sons: Bruce and Lance. Those left to honor her memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Neal J Damm; her daughter, Tarrie Mordhorst of Mishawaka, IN; daughter-in-law, Mary (Henningsen) Mordhorst of Davenport, IA; stepdaughters: Suzanne (Graham) O'Donnell of Buckeye, AZ and Kathleen (Ron) Heneke of Delmar, IA; and her sister, Carol (Don) Jilovec, of Mt. Vernon, IA. She will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren: Sean (Katrina) Mayes, Darin VanDorn, Nathan (Kelsey) VanDorn, John (Dahlia) Kenley, Megan (Nate) Schimes, Hillary (JP) Dooley, Anna (Alex) Molina, Angela (Sam) Ledezma; along with 19 great-grandchildren.
